    .300 PRC

If you can get Guns and Ammo tv, they get hits at 2349 yards with a .300 PRC and talk about it a little. They expect it to replace the .338 Lapua in military use. It seems to be very efficient and fits in a normal magnum action, and uses a relatively small amount of powder for a comparatively good barrel life.

I've got a Long Action ARC Archimedes waiting for this cartridge. Waiting on PVA barrels. Got ammo and dies ready to go. Hoping ADG will make brass for it.

USDoD ordered Barrett MRADs with 300PRC. Also Hornady is supplying 300PRC to out Military/DoD.

The US Department of Defense has confirmed the procurement of Barrett Firearms Manufacturing's MRAD precision rifle chambered in .300 PRC from Hornady.

I had found Barrett was taking orders for 300PRC Proof Carbon Fiber bbl kit for $1500/$1600. I missed out on that, prices is back up to ~$2400 LoL

    Fluted bbl kit is $1575

How does it compare to the 300 Weatherby? And how many rounds do you get out of a barrel?

I have no experience with the 300 Weatherby.

It seems to be similar ballistically to the 300Weatherby and close to 300WM without the belt and no rebated rim.

Seems to be built for the 180+/200+gr bullets with 8-8.5 twist from a 24"...Hornady's new A-Tip 250gr.

I read an article, cant find it...that it was suppose to supplant the 300WM for the military. Being able to run the heavier bullets with less pressure with same if not better ballistics. Seems that the Military's 300WM load with the 220gr bullet is actually over Spec pressure.

Been a wildcat the last ~10 yrs. Parent case is 375 Ruger. The cartridge is aka 30 Sherman? 30/375? I think.

Not quite as fast as the Weatherby, the main advantage seems to be the ability to chamber the longest available bullets without compressing the charge. I've heard 2K to 2.5K estimated barrel life, but who knows?

Why not 300 Norma or 300 RUM?

Those have already been out for a while and this will allow the manufactures to sell more rifles since it is now the "latest and greatest, cannot live without one" cartridge for the year. Just what those that must have the latest and greatest are looking for

What the other guys said, it's "Creedmoor-ized" to use long bullets without the bullet deep in the case.

These guys were saying it's supposed to replace the .338 Lapua. No reason it can't replace both, I guess. At 2000 yards it has nearly the same energy as the .338 Lapua.

I think 338LM still has its use. 300NM replacement. Cheaper and similar ballistics.

Those are great rounds, not originally designed rounds to be accurate. The 300 PRC was designed from the ground up.

Longer barrel life because of chamber pressures being lower. It's a tack driver for sure. I love mine! Got a barrel made for it for my DT.

For hunting I roll me 7.82 Warbird , since I don't shoot it as often I don't worry about burning that barrel out .

Also the availability of ammo for 300 PRC is nice

How is the recoil? I've been considering a 300 WinMag for my new hunting rifle. Perhaps I should be considering a 300 PRC instead.

Spartan Precision has been building some pretty sweet customs using it.
