My stock already had pillars, it is solid and the bedding works better than it looks:

Bed around both screws as well as the BACK of the lug.
Do NOT bed the sides or front or bottom of the lug.
Do not bed the back of the reciever more than an inch or so behind the rear screw but DO make sure it's not binding in the stock.
Free floating is preferred, if only enough to clear a dollar bill.

I don’t own any Savage, out of curiosity I searched for a bit to see the difference between bedding requirements of Remmy 700, Winnie 70 and Savage 10. I tried to cross reference the Remny and Winnie info, but it seems my note book walked away from my desk again.

I don't hate savages.
I own a couple of them.
Without owning some and working on tons more, I would not have been able to form my educated opinion of them.
The 1930's to 1960's savages are fine guns.
