Can anyone identify who built this custom rifle?

I have been looking at a rifle at my LGS, and I am trying to figure out who built it.

It is a 1917 Eddystone chambered in 300 H&H and it appears to have been custom built in the 1960s and it has the initials "DT" in a circle on multiple parts of the rifle.

    Any ideas?

Doug Turnbull uses both a turning bull and DMT in a circle.

Dayton Traister sp? made safety and bullet feed conversions but I don't think they did barrels.

Early/Mid sixties judging by the action used, caliber choice, and the diamond "California" style inlay. Most likely not Turnbull.

Dave Talley is who I think it was, but I can't find any of his work that has the DT in the circle which makes me doubt...

I will have to look into Daniel Titus. I've never heard of him.

Look in the indexes and glossaries of vintage gun digest publications for gunsmiths, engravers, metal smiths, etc., circa 1960ish. I found Talley and Titus in one, dated in the late 70's.

                        Still looking at different resources.

This is a really nice rifle...and I'm interested in it, but I would like to know who built it before I drop any cash on it.

I'm still hoping someone sees this thread and recognizes the work.

Not trying to be funny but could the DT in the circle be the Dayton-Traister manufacturing company who built a lot of sporterization parts for the 1917?

Could be. They are still around, I spoke with them a year or so back. Maybe give them a call?

My money is on Dayton-Traister. They did a lot of old school stuff.
