Stuck case help

Hi all,

I have a Bergara HMR chambered in .308. I was at the range and fired a round and the extractor broke.


My questions are,

What's the best way to get a fired case out without damaging the rifle?

And I should be able to contact bergara to have them send me a new extractor?

Was that a sliding plate type extractor? Are they somewhat prone to breakage?

run a cleaning rod in from the muzzle...the case should not be stuck to bad unless it was a real hot load.

Use your cleaning rod to tap the shell out.
You might need to use a small hammer. Tap it out. Don't hammer hard.

You ban sometimes use a birch or oak dowel from home depot.
Do not buy the pine or whitewood. They just smash.

Or buy a aluminum rod.

I have a cleaning rod to tap out the case. I just wasn't sure if that was the right thing to do. I hear stories of guys trying there barrel trying to hit stuff out of it. But obviously this is just popping out of the chamber. Thanks!

barrels are a lot stronger/tuffer than ppl think.

Remember since its a fired case. The rod should bottom out inside the case.

I myself bought some steel rods that are smaller than the bullet diameter for my calibers.

Yeah lol people say keep your bolt gun dirty for accuracy. Testing it out haha

Contact both gun and cartridge manufactures for solutions.

That one is the first Bergara broken extractor I have seen or herd about.
