Funny, I am picking up my bolt .223 Wylde today from the FFL. I was initially going to build one based on an accessorized Remington, then switch that plan with a PTG, and then ended up with a Defiance. IT's about a $200 difference between the PTG and Defiance from my local builder, and he's not a huge fan of some of the PTG actions he has experienced. I went with a 20 inch barrel, 1:8 twist with McMillan game scout stock.

This rifle was built as a mini version of my hunting rifle, which is chambered in 7mm mag. The hopes for this is also to give my dad and wife something to tinker with. My dad's friend shoots at a 100 yard range, and my dad has commented about wanting to go, but he doesn't want to shoot his 7 mag for very many rounds, so this might be fun for him.

The inconvenience of poor quality lingers long after the thrill of a good bargain.
