Savage axis 223

I have only sold one gun that i missed so much i bought another one.I like quality but money is always a factor in what i buy.I am not a hunter and all my shooting is at 100 yards.
I tend to not go along with what everybody else buys. that philosophy has not let me down so far.With a lightened trigger and a 200 dollar scope it will do things my 71 year old body cannot.
I pay no attention to fads or what publications tell me to buy.I think Savage sells one hell of a accurate rifle for under 400 dollars.
I take my bargain basement Savage semi auto 22lr plinker yes the one you can get for 140 dollars to the range and have a great time while other shooters fix jams with the other brad everybody buys these days .
My 350 dollar axis 223 will out shoot most ARs at my range.

If you have the accutrigger version. You can make the trigger even lighter for $1.50.
They are fun to shoot.

To be fair, bolt guns are inherently more accurate than AR's (less moving parts, etc).

Aside from that, I will say that the entry-level Savage offerings are a great value. Don't buy one if you intend to fix it up or go custom even or if resale is important; Remington platform is better for that.

I have many rifles that are in the thousands yet, I still find joy in shooting my Savage 11VT. It consistently does sub-moa with the right ammo and all I did was put it into a cheap stock.

Savage has been known for making inexpensive rifles that shoot great for a long time. My 10 FP shoots sub-MOA with my handloads as well as Black Hills ammo. It's an older model from before they came out with the accutrigger so I had to add an aftermarket trigger (old trigger was more of a contraption than a legit trigger). Accutrigger was a huge improvement when it came out.

I have an Axis in .223 that I take rat shooting in Eastern Oregon. 3/4" accuracy at 100 yds with 53grain Hornady HP using a variety of powders. This is also an older model without accutrigger, great gun.
