New at SHOT - Daniel Defense Delta 5

Read: The Daniel Defense Delta 5 -- New Precision Bolt Gun from Dave Merrill on January 21, 2019 for Recoil.

Looks like a screaming bargain. I believe DD is one of the few companies that make their own CHF barrels, so they can try to make them good instead of cheap. 60 degree bolt lift, 700 pattern action, integral lug, lotsa nice stuff.

Man, while I like the guys podcast, the videos of guys not knowing how to shoot a precision rifle off a tripod or bipod and rear bag, is a bit embarrassing.

At least they should set up the rifle properly and know how to use a rear bag.. if they are making their living or basing their future careers off these videos.

I had some money to burn and put in an order. I like how the user can swap barrels and get right back to shooting. There are a lot of platforms available off the 700 platform, so I’m going to try something different.

Wish it was under $2000 MSRP. But I like the whole platform.

Tough to switch barrel with the barrel nut...optics might be in the way. Would probably have to take it out of the stock.

Just my opinion. They're priced about $500-600 too high given what is available on the market from other manufacturers.

I get the impression the DD stainless steel action with integral recoil lug is in a different class than the recreational hunting rifle actions in the RPR (Ruger American action), APO Saber (Remington 700), and the Tikka. The Seekins is a nice rifle but comes in a fairly cheap KRG Bravo stock/chassis.

You might class the RPR in a different class, but the APO Saber I talking about is a special Sniper's Hide edition. You should check out the build details. The KRG on the Bravo might be cheap in price but gives plenty of bang for the buck. The DD even with the integral recoil lug just doesn't seem to justify the price they're asking. While the 60 degree bolt throw is a nice touch, the action itself is still rather pedestrian, nothing that really makes it stand out from any of the others. If I had $2200 to spend, this would not be my first choice.

There’s also this, which I think is the better buy.

That os definitely a better buy, but you will be waiting a year to get it.

I waited my year and got mine. I was the very first order. At under $2k MSRP it qualifies for PRS production class. Mine is fully production class legal the way it sits. Even though I got it in December I’m barely going to do load dev tomorrow. This white privilege (work) is killing me.
