It works great.

I have an old piece of sheepskin that i embed with Rig and quickly wipe it on.....

If i'm storing the firearm i'll even coat a wool or cotton mop with it and run it through the bore.

Highly recommended.

Rig has always been the ultimate, maybe 98% protective as Cosmoline. But obviously no all-day cleanup. I use it if the guy will sit in the safe for more than a month. If it's a safe queen, it gets checked 3-4 times a rear...low humidity, goldenrod, desiccants are in the safe.

For guns I shoot frequently or carry or stay in the truck, Johnson's paste or Mini-Wax are stupid simple to apply and you can leave the wax on without buffing it out immediately. When you take it out of the safe and hit it with a clean towel, the metal is beautiful.

I use Renaissance Wax on external metalwork, no oil to soak into my gun socks.

Water displacing 40 is not a long term protectant.

If you don’t use them, buy a tin of RIG rust inhibitor grease

Add some to a cotton cloth. Wipe on and then lightly rub.

i wipe my blued stuff with a wd-40 paper towel or rag, to leave a thin coat on the bluing. Half of the reason to do it is clean any stuff off after handling that could promote rust. I don't really know how effective the WD40 is or if it offers much protection once it's dried off. It works as long as it's done every few months and depending on how prone to rust the gun is (none of mine really rust readily, not like a remington 870 or something)

So 'ol shooter does. I have a can but have not really used it, so I'm just looking what others have experienced with the wax.

^^ Ren wax is in my opinion the best in the market. I use it and have excellent experience with it.

In the safe I use Remington Ezzox and a silicon sock... Cabellas or Midway will put the 6 pack of socks on sale occasionally...
When I used to hunt the Hayward salt ponds I would use Rig grease.. A Rig rag and a quick wipe on before heading to the blind and a cloth towel to dry off and ReRig back at the truck when finished... I also used Rig and a toothbrush to jamb Rig under the vent rib... It's a real pain I only did once,,, cleaning surface rust from under a vent rib...
Going to try the Hornady stuff next for the safe and a Rig rag is always in my hunting ammo can,, along with a clean cotton hand towel to dry off my precious...
