    Recoil Pad

I just bought a Winchester 1895 in 405 Winchester and expect the steel butt plate will give me quite a belt at the range. I'm not too crazy about adding an aftermarket recoil pad, using a slip over is OK short term. I found the below item and while it doesn't provide alot of padding it takes a bit of the sting out of recoil. And it's non-slip.

Easy to cut, follows the slight inward curve of the 1895 buttplate, is durable and closed cell - no fuzzy edges. I put it on my Ruger 96/44 too.

Stays put, doesn't shift. I used a single edged razor blade with it attached to the buttplate. The few blade marks are easily removed with fine sandpaper.

Interesting. I know the AirTech Slip-on Recoil Pads are very effective.

I "fitted" mine with the buttplate attached to the rifle. No screw holes showing.
