    .338 HAWK

Recently inherited a custom Mauser rifle chambered in .338 Hawk and would like to start reloading for it. I have 100 rounds of virgin .338 Hawk head-stamped brass but, cannot find any reloading dies for it. Any leads much appreciated.

Contact your favorite die company and ask, I bet most if not all will have specs and offer you a price based on their custom die price sheet. Might create an ebay search and look on the major gun auction sites.

Do you have the "Hawk Cartridges Manual"? They are available for $20-25 or so.

Going to the Z Hat website, they have removed all products, so, maybe try their contact page and see if they respond. Found a couple of different forum threads on the web where they said responses back from Z Hat were rare if ever.

Maybe try Fred's personal website, see if he responses from there. It appears he does social media as well, might try that if more info is needed.

    Good Luck,
    Criss

      CCrawford,

Thanks for all the great info. Now, I'm thinking I'd be better off having the rifle rebarreled with a more common and readily available cartridge such as the .35 Whelen.

Try Huntington's in Northern California. If they don't have it they walk next door and get it.

By the way, it was RCBS that referred me to Whidden Gunworks.

I have reamers for 35 Whelen or 35 Whelen Ackley Improved if you choose to go that route.

Does this mean you can rebarrel the rifle for me? That is something that I'd be most interested in; either .30-06 Springfield or .35 Whelen.

If you get the new barrel blank and make an appointment to come over, I can do the rebarrel job.
