    EDM Arms M96 repair

I have an EDM Arms M96 bolt action rifle, the gun is not firing due to the firing pin not protruding enough to ignite the primer. Does anyone know if a competent gunsmith in Southern California they can recommend? I understand this rifle is a scaled up version of the Remington 700 to accommodate a larger caliber.

I have a 50s Winchester 94 30-30. Firing pin tip was actually broken off. It also appeared it wasn't protruding. Was a long time ago (1990) but Fowlers Gun Room in Orange had an excellent gunsmith who fixed it promptly..

OP, if you're in Socal and don't want to ship the rifle in etc.. give Randle (AR15barrels) a call or pm. I'm sure he can fix it or at least see what can be done prior to the whole shipping . He fixed all kind of stuffs for me before and very well known on calguns.

Might be easier to get one made.

I don't think you would need to ship the entire rifle just the bolt.
If you can remove the bolt and uncock it. Measure how much of the firing pin is protruding from the boltface. If you have 0.050 - 0.070 it's not the firing pin.
If the tip of the firing pin is smooth and rounded you most likely have crud inside the bolt body itself.
If you have popped a primer the cup will often times find its way into the bolt body where it gets lodged in front of the firing pin stop on the firing pin itself.
Usually if the pin itself is the problem the tip will be all jagged.

Actually, Vigilance has been around since 1990 and built parts for the EDM Windrunner line for many years - built for the production Windrunners not aftermarket gear. They know Windrunners inside and out from tons of first hand experience.
