    6.5X300W Anyone shoot one?

I am thinking of getting a 6.5X300W in their MK V Fibermark rifle. My question is has anyone shot one and if so how was the recoil? I shoot 264win mag/7mmrem mag/300win mag and 338win mag. The 300 is the worse for me. I hate brakes on hunting rifles but would consider the Weatherby brake if needed.

So has anyone shot a 6.5X300W in the MK V rifle and what was the recoil like?
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I have not, but a friend sent me an Elk Network article on it.

The cartridge produces impressive muzzle velocities. I didn't see any test targets so I'm not convinced it's any more accurate than any other cartridge.

I'd assume it's in the neighborhood of my Lazzeroni 6.71(.264) Phantom. Which is a tad more than my .264, but not bad or anything. I can shoot it pretty much all day off a bench, and you don't even notice in the field.

It's a great round. But It's a specialty round. That said I'll shoot my 280 Ackley far more.

My buddy George Tompkins did a lot of development work on that cartridge but in very heavy bench guns.
He never said anything about factory rifles but he is an excellent reloader and if you buy one let me know and I will get you some top shelf recipes.

I have one in the 6.5x300 ULR. It came with a brake on it and it is easy to shoot, but ammo is expensive. Mine favors the 127 LRX bullet. I have not shot anything with it yet, but I'm taking it to Alaska this Fall.

Bought an Accumark last year with no brake and love it.
Took an elk with it first time out.
Used factory ammo for the break in (40 rds) and have been reloading it with 78grns of Retumbo behind the Nosler AccuBond 140 grn.
Recoil is firm but rifle seems to go up more than back.
Found a very good selection of loads from other members

I just got off the phone with George Tompkins.
He said 90.7 grains of surplus 860 ball powder and a 130 Accubond will give you 3500 FPS and get this he said over 1100 rounds of barrel life.
CalGuns member SwitchBarrel knows George as well and his gear is usually pretty good at 1000 yards.
He said he has been using that load in area 7 in Wyoming shooting doe antelope in alfalfa pivots at 515 yards with alot of success.

I like watching the Hushin sport channel. This episode they are building a 6.5 300 for long range hunting. Watching this had me needing a new 6.5 300 but came to my senses after my wife said no.
