Budget build stock questions Howa 1500

I just bought a Howa 24" bull barrel 6.5 Creedmoor barreled action and am looking for a decent stock to complete my budget build. Would like to get started in precision tactical shooting.

So far, I'm looking at two Bell and Carlson stocks...

Bell and Carlson is a leader in synthetic stock design, technology and manufacturer of the highest quality fiberglass, aramid and graphite gun stocks available.

I'm also looking at a KRG Bravo chassis.

The non-adjusting B&C varmint/tacical would be the budget friendly move at $271, with the adjustable cheekpiece model being the step up move at $395.

Neither of these, of course, have the detachable magazine option.

The KRG, at $439, would bang the budget, but has both the adjustable cheekpiece and the detachable magazine.

How important is the detachable magazine to get started in precision tactical shooting?

I'm unfamiliar with KRG. Anyone have any opinions on whether they make good stuff.

Anyone have any other suggested stocks for a "budget friendly" rifle?

Check out the Boyd's At One. Nothing more budget friendly than that.

If you can do any stock work yourself look at www.Brunoshooters.com and eBay for McMillan stocks.

I could be wrong but anything that uses the modern Howa action can accept the Howa brand magazine conversion.

I don't know how well it works or anything but I think for like $50 you can convert any modern Howa into a removable magazine? "Ammoboost"

For a budget build I would get a Boyds Pro Varmint with the adjustable cheek rest option. A few dollara more than the At-One but more comfortable. The At-One is a bulky clunky gimmick stock imo.

Thanks, guys. I'm committed to an aluminum bedding system.

If aluminum is a must then I really like the HS Precision stocks over the B&C. Much higher quality.

For a Chassis the Mcrees Precision was on sale earlier this year for like $485 with the adjustable folding stock option.

Having a drop bottom magazine isn't need to shoot, but it sure is a very nice feature to have. If you ever need to clear the gun quickly drop the mag open the bolt done. No rounds dropping all over the place or having cycle to bolt multiple times to clear the gun. If your goal is PRS or other action rifle style shooting, your going to want a DBM.

The options the KRG gives you far out weighs the cost. Adjustable cheek riser, adjustable LOP, vertical pistol grip, (its damn near a prefect fit in my hand) excellent recoil pad, much better recoil impluse management than a Boyds and B&C, (I've owned them all) and lastly M-Lok options upfront gives you endless options on rails and accesory mounts.

NorCal makes some great points the KRG is a smoking deal.
