    Vortex optic under $600

I know it's not much of a budget but I'm looking for something from Vortex specifically (was offered a deal) for under $600 for a Remington 700 SPS Tac AAC SD in 308. I rarely have the time to shoot it but would like to start spending more time with it. It's my only bolt gun. I know this is a variation of a common question but I'd be interested to hear if anyone has any specific models they could recommend.

Depends on the main use of the rifle. Range toy? Hunting? I dont like the low-mid tier Vortex scopes myself. Unless its a Viper Gen II id skip it and get an SWFA 10x42mm.

I have the Viper HST on a .223 that I use to shoot squirrels. I'm not sure I *need* uncapped turrets but they're certainly nice to have.

Might help to know more about how you plan to use the rifle - hunting, competition, shooting steel at long distance...

I have all Viper PST's, both gen 1 and 2 as well as SWFA HD's. All are excellent. I got an email today from SWFA's Sample list and they have a bunch of demos on sale.

This is what I have on my rem 700 sps

I hit targets at 600 yards with no issues, probably can reach out to 800 if I can find a long enough range.

Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

I'll be that guy....Euro optic pst gen 1 ffp with the ebr2c reticle for 649. They were confirmed in stock by euro optic on reddit a few days ago.

I have an hs-t and I love it. Moving from static paper to a range with a variety of steel at distance, the 80 dollars over the hs-t on optics planet is 100000% worth it to get ffp.

To clarify, I plan on mainly using this for shooting steel, hopefully up to 800 yards at some point. I'd like to hunt with it but it's heavy to lug around through the woods.

Long story but it has to be Vortex. I'm leaning toward the Viper HS-T 6-24x50 or 4-16x44. I'm a total noob having used nothing but a very cheap Bushnell in the past. Would like to have illuminated reticle and 1st focal but can't make the price jump. Either model sound like a good choice?

I own several the Vortex FFP and SFP vipers - HST 6x24 and PST Gen2 6x25. They seem well made and are great glass for me. Originally I had SWFAs but have slowly transitioned to Vortex glass for my rifles. IMO they are a good value - I know there’s better glass to be had but these work for my shooting which is currently 100-600... I hope to stretch the glass out to 1000 soon...

I have a Viper HSLR I picked up locally at Cabela's for $630. I've used it on steel out to 900 yards without issue. The eye relief is more forgiving than lower end scopes, the glass is clear, and it tracks very well. If you can find the PST Gen I for $649, that should be a done deal. Eat Top Ramen for a week to make up the other $50 over your $600 budget.
