    Help with a restoration

So I believe I had posted about this rifle in the past, I would like to try and return it to firing condition. Can anyone tell me again what is missing, and by chance where to source parts?? It is a Jap Arisaka in 7.7.

I once pondered over the debate of 9mm vs. .40, then I was introduced to .38 super and 10mm and forgot all about it.

I'm no arisaka rifle expert but you're at least missing your firing pin, your safety knob, your firing pin spring and possibly a few others.

Here is a diagram from Gun Parts Corporation and keep in mind there are more than just one type / model of arisaka rifle.

Off the top of my head I cannot say if it is a Type77(30cal-.311 bullet) or Type38 that is 6.5MM cal.
It looks like the Mum is defaced which is common.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

Cool rifle! I have nothing to add other than a “good luck” on the restore.

It’s a type 99. You can tell by the one vent hole instead of two on the top of the receiver. A complete bolt is about $125 on eBay. I’m not supper familiar with the type 99 but I believe all that your missing is filtering pin, spring, cocking piece/safety.

I have this rifle in a 1941 build. I'll take picture of my bolt when I get down to it this weekend.

Everyone is right that you are missing essentially the entire back of the bolt such as the safety, firing pin, and spring. Since yours is not a "last ditch" rifle you should try to find a safety with the proper knurling. Only last ditch rifles had smooth safeties.

If you want to restore it all the way you are also technically missing the bolt shroud and possibly the front monopod. You should check your serial number for the build year and Arsenal.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

You are missing the three parts in the foreground; firing pin, firing pin spring, and safety knob.
