    Mossberg MVP Patrol in 5.56/.223, Experience/Opinions ???

I'm thinking of purchasing the Mossberg MVP Patrol in 5.56/.223 and would like to know your experience and opinions if you have one of these? I like that it will use my AR magazines. What color stock do you have? I like the tan stock but can't find one of these at any local gun stores to see how it looks or feels in person. One last thing, do you have any personal experience to compare it to the Ruger Gunsite Scout in 5.56/.223. Thanks for your feedback.

I've got the 308 version and love it. Search around on forums and you'll find some fun and quality aftermarket info.

I have a black 5.56 patrol you're talking about. Have only shot it once but the accuracy was good enough (about 1moa @ 100yards). Handy little rifle, I just prefer my AR's or long range bolt action over it. Personally, I think the bolt feels a lot smoother that what a lot of others here have said. It's not as smooth as my Howa or Savage, but definitely smoother than the new R700's in my family.

      WTB used AK MFER.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

Howa makes a .223 with a detachable polymer 10 round magazine. Not an AR mag, but it's not like you need a lot of mags for a bolt gun.

I have the MVP 20" version and it's the most accurate I rifle I know of. Cover all three shots with dime at 100 yards, using cheap wolf ammo.

I have the laminated wood stock MVP. Bolt is a little rough on cycling, but will smooth out. Magpul mags are a tighter fit.
Very accuarate and easy to carry.
I also have the Thunder Ranch in 308. I really like this one. A lot. Plus it uses M1A mags, as well as DPMS style.

I had the thunder ranch 223 / 5.56 model and loved it. .3/4 " 3 shot group @ 200 yds sighting in with hornady tap 55 vmax.

Have a mpv predator in 5.56 with the threaded barrel. Great little rifle, around 600 rounds through it now. Haven't had any problems with it. It is a shooter. Just made a 100yd 2" group using 10 junky 55gr federal bulk 5.56. It does a lot better using premium ammo or hand loads.

Purchased a Patrol model # 27716 over 2 years ago. Love it!

Approximately 900 rds of XM193 downrange. No issues. Stock iron sights. Black stock. Super easy to clean. All I've added is a simple 2 point nylon sling & a butt stock ammo pouch which holds two 10rd PMAGs. I find the PMAGs easier to insert and drop free. 110% reliable.

Function is very smooth IMHO. No problem getting quick follow up shots off accurately. Groups are approx 2" at 50 yards and the same at 100 yards (if I can lean against something lol). Not bad for a guy almost 70.

No plans to add an optic. I prefer the iron sights. Its not a sniper rifle. I think some folks try to make it something its not. Shoots great 100 yards and under for me. (FYI...I've never shot it over 100 yards, don't plan to) Plain, simple, easy to use, reliable and decent priced.

                          Love It!

Thanks to all of you for some great information. I was debating between the Mossberg MVP Patrol in 5.56 and the Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle in 5.56, both are great guns. I had pretty much decided on the Mossberg and was looking for one on Calguns when I ran across a killer deal on a Ruger Scout on Calguns. So... not one to pass up a great deal, I purchased the Ruger that I thought I would never be able to afford. I love this website and the quality of the discussions. Thanks again and keep the discussion going if you have an opinion on the Ruger vs the Mossberg. Thanks
