    RPR gen 2?

Looking to get an RPR in 6.5, would it be worth waiting to find a gen 2 version or just pickup a gen 1? Looks like my local dealers all have a gen 1, but I can order one online at a decent price. Appears to be mostly cosmetic upgrades but I always find the newer versions tend to run a little smoother so I usually lean towards getting the newest model.

You mean Gen3? The Gen 3 was just released, it's the one with the MLOK handguard. Gen 2's handguard is Keymod but doesn't have picatinny on its top. Gen 1 has picatinny running down the entire top of the handguard. They all shoot the same, only difference has been mostly aesthetics.

I have noticed that Ruger changed the rail at some point, and started using a Sampson evolution rail instead of the orignal quad rail, but that was still a "gen 1". Officially the "gen 2" started with a slick rail and moved to Mlok instead of keymod.

The reason they removed the top rail, is so you can mount the scope lower.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Gen 2 changes where as follows.
Added a muzzle brake, removed top picatiny rail from hand guard(gen 1 and 2 where both keymod and both made by Sampson),changed the plastic bolt shroud to aluminum.

Gen 3 changes are as follows.
Hand guard went from key mod to m-lok,added a Black nitride finish to the bolt body, added a true ambi safety(gen 1 and 2 were movable left or right).
