    Muzzle break for a .300RUM

First let me say that I don't know a lot about muzzle breaks but I do know some and have one on my .300 RUM. It is a Holland MB and the type that does not vent out the bottom of the break. What I am looking for is recommendations to replace the Holland with. The reason is because the Holland sends enough of the blast/shock wave back into me to give me a head ache and I hate a head ache. TIA

Have you tried a recoil pad? With a recoil pad you might not need a brake, which would solve your problem. If you shoot at a range your fellow shooters will thank you for not having the brake.

      All big boomers do that.
Try the gun without the brake and I bet you have the same result.

300 RUM's are just not fun to shoot.

I had a Remi 700 in 300 RUM as well, I had an APA fat bastard gen II on it and love it. Reduce the recoil, the rifle shoots better, probably a bit stronger than 308 after that.
I had some surefire brake before but it didn't work as good.

KDF Slimline. I just did one in 300 RUM last week. Will feel like a 30-06 with 130 grain bullets, and minimal back blast to the shooter. As with all brakes, the guys on either side of you wont like it. I am a KDF factory installer, let me know if I can help.

Yep, got a nice recoil pad, without the brake and standing it isn't to bad on the recoil. I'm not as recoil sensitive as most but that doesn't mean I like it, off the bench is the worst part of it. Breaks are a very common item in this part of the country.

Shooting the rifle without the break does not cause a problem off hand/standing leaning on something with recoil or blast but sit at a bench and without a break it gets a little more "ouchie" on the recoil part. The break controls the felt recoil very nice but not the blast. I,m shooting it without the break.

If you were close I would give you a try. Just a little far for me to drive. KDF Slimline ya say.

A few weeks ago I was one of those guys, which is why I suggested the recoil pad idea. The noise was unpleasant but getting hit with the redirected muzzle blast was really annoying. I finally stopped shooting and stepped away until the guy with the brake shooting next to me was finished.

I’ve not used one but, you should contact Nathan & inquire about
his Beast self timing brake. You can install it yourself since your
muzzle is already threaded (presuming you know the thread pitch
                    & size).

Home of the Beast series brakes. We produce some of the most effective muzzle brakes on the market.

Holland built/builds a great many different models.
I am assuming your brake looks like an inverted hour glass in shape? Like his super magnum? Of years past.
To make a brake more efficient some cant the baffles rearward like a clamshell to reduce the rifles felt recoil but it really hurts you on the concussion.
A brake like the JP Tank style brake works very effectively because the baffles are very large and the exits are 90 degrees to the bore so you don't get as much concussion. Shooting from a bench with plugs and muffs it works very well.
That said if you take the gun hunting and don't have ear protection on your ears will ring after one shot and you won't enjoy it.

I'm about half@ss tempter to figure out how to do a trip out there to shoot something on the ranch and just show up on a doorstep. If I did show up there with my shootsenboomer what kind of paperwork does Calif. require? log in log out 4473 10 day? If you prefer you can message me with all the particulars including contact info. I have a lot of irons in the fire right now and some of it isn't going to be a lot of fun...........at least for me. Fought a little fire up your way to.

All I need is an ID to show where it came from in my acquisition/disposition log. The work is considered a service on your legally owned property and I simply return it to you when the work is complete. No TRANSFER is taking place. You can make an appointment to drop it off, or you can ship to the address on my license. I can return ship it to you or deliver it to you at my place of business when the work is done.
Most RUM guns are medium or light weight hunting rigs. The slimline goes well with these type rifles. No need to put a howitzer type bore evacuator on a hunting gun! Who needs the exrta weight? I order the brake direct from KDF after I measure your barrel. Stainless or Blue, polished or matte, $295 supply and install. Seamless extra.
Feel free to call Mon thru Fri 10 to 4 at 559-658-2320
                            Thanks,
                            Ken
