    Ruger American Predator 223

Hiya all. Looking at the Ruger American Predator in 223. I have plenty of 223 Pmags and was initially looking at the Mossberg MVP line, but damn that bolt is sloppy.

Anyone tried the Ruger? I know it’s a budget gun, but I wanted something else to burn 223 a bit slower. Let’s call it a “precise as I can get it” rifle. Thought of the new American Ranch, but I’m set for mini rifles.

Optics I was thinking of getting another PA 4-14 ffp.

    Any opinions? Tia

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

Things I liked when reading about the new Ruger Predator - AR mag model, 5 groove rifling, threaded barrel. I think I'd be more interested if it was 5.56.

But I should be dead already based on what the internet says about 5.56 in a .223 chamber

That’s what appeals to me as well. The ranch is 5.56, so there’s that... if you want a 16.5” barrel.

I have the 6.5cm version and its my favorite hunting rifle, so light i can carry it all day and it really doesn't bother me but still retains modest accuracy, the stock leaves a lot to be desired if you plan on target shooting with it you may want to look into a better stock/chassis.

For me personally I see no reason to go with the Ruger when a Howa 1500 is only slightly more expensive.

such a seemingly simple feature but worth its weight in gold!!

Also the Rugers are American made....

Another good reason. I love the idea of mag uniformity, especially with a good mag like the Magpul. I mostly shoot a match style AR, but want something that can send lighter weight 55gn downrange well. Plus, the kid likes mag dumping so a bolt is going to teach some patience...and NOT cost me 10 bucks every mag!

Some versions of the Howa come with a 10 round detachable mag. It's not the same as an AR mag but they're cheap and it's not like you need a lot of mags for a bolt gun anyway.
