Not my picture and it was not taken from straight behind the gun, but this is the closest picture I found while googling:

The rifle should be parallel to the spine.
You obviously can not get your rifle aligned with your spine because your neck and head are in the way, but if you move the rifle over to your shoulder and draw a line through the rifle, that line should run parallel to your spine.

This may be the most accurate stance, but, boy, it must rattle your fillings when you shoot a powerful rifle.

Your position behind the rifle is the problem.

When a rifle jumps to the left after the shot, your body is crooked to the left behind the rifle like the guy in the picture above.

Hey, i think i know that guy. He wears my watch.

He is shooting off of a bench with a bipod not off of the ground.
Going to a proper front rest with a sandbag will cure the problem.

It would theoretically be better if you put a 0.001" shim behind it, but it probably won't matter if you don't.

I watched a guy shoot 2 shots of a Weatherby 460 mag offhand, standing up.
He said the first shot hurt quite a bit. He readjusted his grip and stance and fired again. That was enough. He said that he bought the rifle used with 1 box of ammo, with 3 shot rounds. He then shot 2 more, 5 out of 20, then sold it at the next gun show, with the 15 new rounds.
I think it would be real interesting to see someone shoot it as pictured.
Isn't this one of the reasons current shooters are flocking to 6-6.5mm rounds?
                      Isn't the current champ shooting a .243?
