    Magpul Hunter 700L stock

I am wondering if a Magpul Hunter 700L would improve my Rem 700 in .300WM, if I should just stick with the original synthetic stock or if there’s some other stock that would improve performance. It’s a sweet looking stock but I don't wanna get caught up in aesthetics. I carry this sucker 7-15 miles a day for one to two weeks at a time. Mostly I bow hunt but am looking to expand my hunting season. I put a NightForce scope, muzzle brake, Timney trigger and aftermarket buttpad on the rifle already. Need educated opinions from actual users. Thanks.

The state with the most unrestrictive gun regulations, Vermont, has the lowest murder rate at 0.48 per 100,000.

If you have a decent wood or composite stock this turd of a stock won't make any difference it's just a tacticool clunker. A chassis can help out but who wants that on a Hunting rifle.

Don't wanna add more weight but was told this stock was designed by a sniper for hunting. What don't you like about this "turd" of a stock?

Just like the Tactical flashlights and lighters for sale for $19.99 on TV
Look at it and the maker they should stick to AR's. Sniper and hunting are two different worlds.

Not a bad stock per say, but there are better stocks IMHO for the money.

Little more money and you can score a Greyboe, which is basically a licenesed McMillan.

What are you looking to improve? What stock are you currently using? What does the Magpul stock do that your current stock won't?

Remington has several stocks that come on factory rifles.

Using the synthetic stock that came with it but contemplating an upgrade to increase performance if I can do it w/o adding ounces.

Some significant concerns about the Magpul Hunter stock expressed at https://www.opticsplanet.com/reviews...ion-rifle.html. Not gonna consider it anymore.

Its probably better than the factory tupperware stock you get from Remington. But there are better stocks. You don't really need a DBM on a hunting gun.

I agree. One more thing to accidentally forget when packing. LOL

That narrows it down to several variants of HS precision, Bell and Carlson or the wet noodle nylon injection molded stocks.
                      They are ALL synthetic stocks.

Like AR15Barrels said, almost every model 700 has a different stock. It's hard to narrow down what you have. Exactly what model 700 do you have?

Increase performance is incredibly vague. What is under performing about the rifle right now? If you just want a new stock that's fine too, but if your rifle has a decent stock already you'll probably be disappointed with the magpul.

I'd look at grayboe.com if your budget is in the $300 range. You get some good features on a solid stock at a reasonable price. I've even seen redhawkrifles.com have some 20% sales on them.

If you want to save even more weight and money isn't an object check out some of the things manners has to offer.

                          I'm guessing you can't.

If you currently have the tupperware stock I think you'll be hard pressed to find anything as light or lighter that is more rigid.

A "precision" stock may give you nothing over about any factory stock that is properly bedded. If it makes 1/4" smaller groups at 100 yards that means 1.5" group size difference at 600 yards.

How far do you think that you will shoot while hunting?

Here is the description for a McMillan Hunter class stock.

The Hunter Class stock is identical to the standard Benchrest, except that the flares on the forend have been removed to meet the 2.250 inch requirement. In addition, a Hunter Class stock specifically designed for a Remington 700 or 40X can be ordered. A sporter stock is generally the same as the Light Varmint stock. The standard weight for the Light Varmint and Hunter Class is approximately 1 lb. 12 oz. and the Heavy Varmint is approximately 2 lbs. 6 oz. Camouflage or marble colors and graphite will add 2 oz. Available in right and left hand. Recommended for a blind magazine or single shot only.

Probably the best general purpose stock made.
