    Savage Ashbury in .308 finished

    Hey All,

Well She's finally complete and ready to head to the range. 24" Savage Ashbury in .308, Magpul PRS Stock, Nikon M-223 mount lapped and carrying a 5-25x50 Zeiss Conquest HD5 with a Z1000 Reticule, a Precision Armament M11 Severe Duty muzzle brake and 9" Bipod. I can't wait to see how she shoots out at distance.

    sweet looking rifle OP.
How much do you think the muzzle brake is going to help with the recoil?

Not sure I do know it's the 4th best muzzle brake on the market according to the precision competitors I talked too. The others were nice but some of the prices were ridiculous and the others just didn't make me get a boner lol..

Length of pull IS really long not sure what I' am going to do there might just be an insert added I don't need. The buffer tube is the stock mil-spec carbine one not sure if it makes a difference. Maybe the A2 doesn't need the adaptor and might be shorter? Anyone else use the PRS stocks might be able to chime in.

I had the prs stock on my LR308 and took it off. It made the LOP too long for me.
I use the acs stock now on my LR308.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

You could definitely change out pistol grip to shorten it up some

Yeah the LOP isn't so much the issue per se rather the eye relief from the scopes a bit far back. Will take a better look when I get home haven't had the time to take the stock off and screw with it. I do still have the stock CTR sans cheek riser but hopefully I can get the PRS to work.

LOP and eye relief are equally important. The rifle must fit you.

Adjust for the proper LOP because your body position and cheek weld on the PRS depends on it then adjust for eye relief.

The PRS is intended to butt up against the receiver, so that adapter and folding mechanism add length you don't want. You might have to saw some of that stock off.

Might be I' am just used to shooting the AR nose to handle so this is a bit different for me. From the pictures I' am seeing and talking to buddies the cheek piece is just that not an edge of your mouth piece like I shoot my AR if that makes sense. I can see the whole scope from edge to edge while on the rifle. LoP is pretty comfortable for me prone and on a makeshift rest.

As a side Not I disassembled the stock and see no way to shorten the LOP or adjust the cheek piece forward at all. It requires one of the included spacers and there's no horizontal adjustment of the check piece.

Isn't the butt stock replaceable, with any available AR stock?
That might be the easiest solution

It is... it came with a CTR but no riser. I' am not the only one that runs a PRS on an Ashbury or a RPR. I think most like me are just used to a standard long rifle stock or an AR. These chassis like the RPR are really a hybrid then add the folding mechanism. I finally got a chance to take it outside and it's nice . The rifle is comfortable both prone unsupported and on a pod. I do have to get up on the stock a bit but it probably starts about mid cheek. If only it had a vertical adjustment for the cheek piece lol guess that's gen 4 :<). What I get for getting a compact scope a bigger scope and more eye relief on it would help a lot.

Most folding stock chassis are designed to be used with a carbine length stock to be able to obtain the correct LOP.

Length-of-pull is measured from the front face of the trigger to the rear of the buttplate.
The pistol grip has no bearing on LOP.
