    Opinions on this chamber

Lever action rifle in 30-30. Not much history is known on it. I have only seen pictures of it and have not yet done a personal inspection. What are your opinions of this chamber? Just dirty? Corrosion? Galling? Or...?
    Thank you

Life was simpler, and more honest, when revolvers and lever actions were the rule.

Needs a clean up at minimum.

I will certainly agree to that. The chamber looks off though, unless it’s just very dirty.

The chamber needs to be cleaned and polished and then evaluated.

Too dirty to see any damage.
Clean it and THEN post another picture.

It's a 30-30 just clean it and call it good.

Don't buy it unless they clean it first.

              That's a big red flag.

If the seller won't take the time to clean it before listing it for sale he doesn't take care of his guns or he's too hiding something. The exception would be the 90 year old widow who's trying to get rid of her dead husband's old guns.
If they are being offered for sale by a relative or friend they could easily wipe that out with some oil on a toothbrush and a rag.
