Cool. Thanks for that info! Now to figure out how much I want to ask for it!

Not much to add, but original Pre-64 Model 70's in 257 Roberts are HIGHLY desirable and valuable rifles. Wish I had one.

OP, Winchester never made a stock of that contour and lack of checkering. I honestly dont evevn think that is a modified original stock and even if it were it wouldn't matter it's been ruined. Inletting tells you nothing.

All it should need is a barrel and stock swap if the bolt and receiver feed rails already been opened up for magnum cartridges.

            Maybe Weatherby did the conversion.

A pre 64 M70 in 257 Roberts is a rare rifle, in unaltered condition it is worth well over $1000.

Yours has been rebarreled, re stocked, so it is in the shooter category. I don't consider the 257 Weatherby Magnum a desirable cartridge, it would be interesting to know how much the throat is eroded. Most of the people are urging you to spend hundreds of dollars changing this, or changing that, and do you really want to spend the time and money? If the bolt face has been opened you are stuck with belted magnums, pre 64 M70 bolts are expensive, easily add another $500 if you want to buy a standard caliber pre 64 bolt.

Anything you do to this rifle will not result in a value increase above the amount you put into the rifle. Changing the cartridge to 300 Win Mag is an interesting idea, but you are going to spend hundreds on the conversion and you will end up with a rifle that is worth maybe $50.00 more than it is now. It is a shooter, if you don't want to shoot it, sell it for $450-500 and take the cash.

My Remington 760 pump in .257 Roberts is in the same category...supposedly only 1000 made.

Yup, that's the stock alright! It's been re-chambered, not re-barreled. I have no idea how many rounds are through it either but I've only shot a couple boxes through it myself. I'm just going to clean it up and sell it along with any brass and ammo I can dig up for it. And here is another pic for good measure! Thanks everyone for your input.
