    Bergara BMP 6.5 barrel replacement

I'm looking at a BMP in 6.5 CM as an entry rifle to longer distance shooting.

I read somewhere that these barrels are easy to replace (like an RPR?) and dont require a gunsmith.

    Can you guys confirm that?

Also, when the time comes, where do you get replacement barrels for BMP 6.5 CM?

    thanks!

I don't think there are a lot of Bergara owners on Calguns but let me ask a Bergara Shooter's Group on Facebook and I'll get back to you.

OK I just got a response back from the Technical Development Manager at BPI Outdoors (company that owns Bergara of North America) and he said the following:

Thanks for getting that feedback. I'll contact them tomorrow. Guess the diy barrel change of the rpr is a good thing. Thanks

The "upside" of a user-swappable barrel nut system is quickly eclipsed by all the downsides of a barrel nut system.

            Barrel nut rifles:
-have an ugly barrel nut on the barrel.
-require a thinner barrel contour not exceeding the thread diameter.
-have 2 thread junctions between the receiver, nut and barrel.
-have a less solid connection between barrel/receiver.
-suffer from user-adjustable headspace, making it much more difficult to swap barrels and maintain headspace.
