New Double King of 2054 Yards and some Great Shooting!!!

We held our monthly NorCal URSA unlimited range shooters association match today.
We had 9 shooters on the line and another 10-15 onlookers watching what we do.

Congratulations goes out to CalGuns regular Focus on winning both matches!!!!
He also got 8 out of 10 hits at 2054 yards which is the most hits since the inception of the URSA.
He actually had 9 hits in a row if you include his last practice shot.
We also had our first lady shooter on the line today and she got two hits with a 338 Lapua.
After everyone qualified we had an equipment issue with a light sensor that CalGun regular Hoffer fixed temporarily with some paracord. It lasted until the hits vibrated the welds off the back of the gong.
I loaned Amy my heavygun for match#2 and she became the first lady shooter to qualify at one of our matches!!! Congrats Amy!!!
The weather started out below freezing freezing and with very light wind but actually got better as the day went on.
Focus with his 8/10 got his final achievement point at 2000 yards plus he qualified for the upcoming 3K match.
WhiteMamba Hoffer and Myself all got atleast 5 hits at 2000+ qualifying us for the 3K as well.
Hoffer went 7/7 before the light quit working the first time.
I would like to thank Hoffer Brett Ken WhiteMamba Focus Aaron with a 7 Amy and Josh plus Boygaun and all his friends for a very interesting match.
I think if we had less trouble today with the light someone could have run all 10 shots for record.
We had 4 shooters get a first round hit after there sight in period of 3 shots and some very impressive strings.
A special note goes out to Aaron with a 7 and Amy who got several hits while shooting my heavygun without its front rest. They got hits and qualified while shooting off of a case of silicon caulking material wrapped in a large towel when I managed to leave the front rest on my porch.
The lack of wind was a real pleasure to shoot in today!!!

Sucks the light quit. Was hoping to give Focus a run for his money.

Fairly big crowd. Nice to see a couple 50DTC out there too

Saturday night was definitely into the 20's as the pond it the road was frozen 3/8" thick. Will bring warmer clothing next time.

With the monsters you guys shoot, can't you see/hear the hits?

        How big is that gong?

Gong is 37 inches across and yes you can hear the hits but not all the time.
When Hoffer was pounding the gong we could see it move but the light didn't flash. When Ken hit the gong with his 50 there was no mistake that it was a clean hit as the gong swings pretty good even though they weigh 118 pounds.
A wire from the 9 volt battery was internally busted and the clip that goes on the battery couldn't be tightened up and believe me we tried.
As long as Hoffer held onto the battery everything worked but once he let go no joy.
We tried foam a paper towel and ended up using paracord without a cover and it worked like new again until the bracket itself tore off.
Focus is working on the video of the shoot as I type this and from what he just texted me you can see the lights flashing in his video from 2054 yards.

Edit: The picture shows the back side of the gong and where the bracket snapped off. You can see the shiny steel in the picture where it broke in 4 places.

This clip was the second string of the morning. It's still dark. But, the sun is heating the air and the mirage is present. Sorry, for the wind noise; the camera's mic is not shielded.

            Cheers,

No it was professionally welded but the welds didn't give out the metal right above the welds let loose.
The scary thing is I am going to weld it back on.

Thanks for the video and great job.

Congrats to the winners!! Sounds like nice shooting all the way around.
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.

What are all the calibers that went out shooting that day?

It was nice seeing you guys shot. I tried to say goodbye before we left but you guys were in a match at that time. We would have stayed longer but we were on our annual Christmas tree run

I couldn’t believe how small the target was and how accurate everyone was.

Lynn. Is there a place in that area where I could say setup shorter like 500-1000 and practice

There was at least one 375 SnipeTac on the line.

                          Cheers,

If you keep going east there was around 250,000 acres that burned down you can shoot on. You would need to bring a rangefinder to confirm the distance.
Towards Bartlett Springs or Indian Valley.
