    DTA SRS Owners

    Who's got one?

How many of you completely switched over to a DTA and left your other bolt guns to collect dust?

I just picked up a custom bolt gun (Spartan) a week and a half ago only to DROS a DTA SRS 2 days ago. Kind of an impulse buy but I've read about people making them their go-to for both long range and accuracy.

Really, I should just wait until I can bust it out of jail and try it out for myself. I ask though because I've got a custom build idea brewing and I'm close to ordering a BAT action.

By the way, it's a 300 win mag and I've already ordered brass (Nosler) and bullets (Hornady ELD match).

I bought one for the different caliber options and now it's my favorite.
On paper they should not work, but they are very accurate.
    The size is nice too

The triggers suck and I'm really starting to like it.

Just have to try it. I had one and liked some qualities of a bullpup and did not like others. I decided to stick with traditional non-bullpup bolt guns for long range precision use. I might still consider a Covert for a light, compact hunter.

OP, you just have to try it and see what you like. I owned a SRS (gen1), 2 SRS A1 ... I ended up sold them all. I like the concept and all but the rifles had always seems like incomplete to me. Ai is my go to rifles instead

What do you want to know about it. I love it. I had 4 of the 10 SD SWAT snipers try mine. They now use them as their go to rifles. I freaking love mine. I have my trigger set to 1lbs.

I have barrels for it ranging 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 SAUM, 300 Win Mag, and a .338 Norma Magnum AI.

PM and I will hook you up with the guy that spins all the DT guys custom barrels. He's in Vegas. He's building me another 6.5 SAUM barrel. You will love it! Where are you located at? We can have a DT reunion

I love mine too. I have a 6.5 Creedmoor, 300 Win Mag, 338 Lapua Mag and Tyler in Vegas spun me a killer .308 Winchester barrel. I want to be buried with mine. It is insanely accurate and versatile. You can pull the barrel out, drop it back in and it will still shoot 1 MOA or better. Crazy accurate. I compete with mine.

The multi-caliber option was one main reason for buying the DTA SRS.

I didn't want to adopt any new calibers due to our stupid ammo ban and being able to switch between 2 main calibers without buying multiple rifles/scopes was a big plus.

I consider the SRS compact already, so that's enough for me to not consider the covert.

I'll try it out once I finally bust it out.

I've read for the most part what I'd like to know. Guess I was just hoping to hear those same words echoed that have been posted in other forums.

Is accuracy really up to par with a nice custom build? I'm not talking f-class but at least 1/2" 5 shot groups at 100; at 500+ yards it really comes down to the shooter and ammo combination so I'm not worried about that.

I'm located in the northern central coast; all you guys are in so-cal

Badass, I was hoping not to be stuck with buying DTA SRS barrels only.

I take it one would just buy the correct bolt from DTA for said caliber?

I forget where exactly, but I found a guy that lives near me picking his nose on Google months back

See the picture below, that's 5 shots from a new Factory Barrel with some factory ammo. His 1st 5 shots ever.

Yes that is correct. Of course some bolts work for other calibers mike my SAUM takes the 300 bolt and my Norma takes the .338 Lapua bolt.

Nice shooting. Yes, the accuracy is up there in the elite class. However, I always find the SRS is missing something and it always gives me a feeling of an "incomplete" product. :/

The new chassis have m lock rails, way lighter then what I have. The weight is the only issue I find with my rifle, especially compared to my hunting rig. The new adjustable but stock is nice too

I went 7 out of 10 with a stock SRS A1 338LM at 2050 yards at my 1st URSA match. It really works

I stopped using my other bolt guns after I bought mine. There’s a video online showing how you can set the trigger weight, pull, and creep to make it perfect. The bolt manipulation takes some getting used to but once you get the hang of it, it’s not an issue.

That's what I like to hear; I haven't even began to reload for my .308 and I may just skip doing so altogether

I'll try and find that video.

One thing you should remember though when switching out the handguard, there is a pin inside that connects the handguard to the frame. Buy the tool that desert tech sells or you will shred your handguard to pieces. I learned this the hard way.

Check this out also, an adjustable buttpad from short action customs.
I thought about getting the bolt just for .308 but that'll be something to look at later; unfortunately I do not own 6.5cm so I don't want to adopt another caliber since I just adopted .300wm

A .308 barrel for this rifle though is a definite maybe.

Thanks for the video link btw.
