    Rossi Circuit Judge 45/410

Does anyone know if this gun is a problem in California?

I’ve seen them before, maybe up in Redding? They are just scarce. I think they a great idea, and they are very light, and simple enough for non-gun people/novices. They even include a plug for two cylinders (or is it 3) and a screw in choke so it can legally be used for fowling.

      California Penal Code.
      30515.

      (a) Notwithstanding Section 30510, “assault weapon” also means any of the following:

      (8) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

Well it is a “rifle” due to the rifled 18 1/2” barrel, not a “street-sweeper” format shotgun. But I have no doubts the vagueness of it all is just going to be a turn off for most dealers.

                    17190.

As used in Sections 16530, 16640, 16870, and 17180, Sections 17720 to 17730, inclusive, Section 17740, Section 30215, and Article 1 (commencing with Section 33210) of Chapter 8 of Division 10 of Title 4,

“shotgun” means a weapon designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder and

designed or redesigned and made or remade to use the energy of the explosive in a fixed shotgun shell to fire through a smooth bore either a number of projectiles (ball shot) or a single projectile for each pull of the trigger.
Since the Circuit Judge models have a rifled barrel, not smooth bore -> so not, in CA, a shotgun.

Rossi 410's in the circuit judge or lever action are very hard to find. And I have heard they may not be made anymore?

There was an attempt to ban it a few years ago. Brown vetoed the bill.

Then why wouldn’t the Judge be legal? (Per the penal code you quoted)

                            Friggin California logic.

Circuit Judge is not a shotgun because it has a rifled barrel.

Judge is a shotgun because it is a handgun designed to chamber a shot shell.

Who knows what Braztec is going to do down there. They seem to be kind of vague about whats going on.
