OP: That is about the same price I bought mine from Bud's 2 years ago. Mine was in 30-06 and introduced me to long range shooting. I have brought it to a few long range classes, practice sessions, and club competitions in Sacramento's 1k range. I probably do that around four times a year so I feel I don't shoot enough to justify getting the better long range calibers.

Aside from the occasional temptation to put a brake on it, I have kept it stock and now has almost 1k rounds on the factory barrel.

I am very happy with my gun.

I am aware they are 100% illegal in California and require the $200 stamp in the states that allow silencers.

The UltraMags 300 win Mag 300 Weatherby and 338 Lapua all take long actions.
That said skinny barrels and anything under 26 inches is a waste on the bigger cartridges.
The twist rate problem on the 243 has been around for decades and is still not fixed.

Not technically, to legally shoot that as a supressor you would need a tax stamp for the adapter not the filter. So once the filter burns up you toss it.

There are a few companies that make the adapters and actually market them as suppressors which would allow you to pay your $200 and register it. Just not in CA.

There are some people that sell a "solvent catcher" adapter that allows you to screw a filter onto the end of a barrel but they're not marketed as suppressors.

Apparently these solvent catchers are popular enough that if you look for a Napa 4003 on Amazon it'll suggest one.

Don't the RUM and Lapua need a Magnum action?

Yup, and those gadgets are illegal unless you register it all. After that you cannot legally replace any part of it, only a manufacturer can. Read their website.

You can use any action on the ultra mags and Lapua but a long or ultra mag action gives you feeding ability.
Shellholder type actions operate just fine but most shooters consider them too slow.

Oh it's that whole supressor parts issue again.

Yeah they are getting weird about even having replacement parts for legally owned ones, like spare wipes. Seems silly to have to send a device back to the manufacturer to install a .02 cent rubber wipe.

They advertise that stuff on Amazon to get the mouth breathers to buy it thinking they're getting away with something - until they're caught. But a lot of the stuff is pretty good. You can buy a tube, a coupler ("solvent trap"), end cap, and even the baffles and put together a silencer that's actually pretty good. Better than some high-priced stuff out there. A guy has done so for under $200 in materials and tested it vs big name ones. You just can't legally drill any holes in the baffles or end cap until you get an approved Form 1 back.

And if you were the manufacturer but don't have an SOT, you can't legally repair anything if it goes wrong. You can't make spare baffles, or spare anything.

Yeah there's a lot of that stuff on Amazon. Some guys were advertising full auto Sears for Glocks as airsoft parts and apparently the ATF got involved.
