Just bought a Remington Model 700 SPS

Hey fellow calgunners!
I was at my local dicks sporting goods just looking for a decent bolt action rifle to buy around 300-500 bucks. While I was about to purchase a 700 ADL in .308 win for 449, I came across a beauty sitting in the back corner shelf! A model 700 SPS camo that was on sale, for $329!!!! chambered in 30-06, I immediately changed my mind and purchased this one. Although there was a bit of rusting on the surface the associates cleaned it for me and compensated me with a cable lock and 40 rounds of ammo for free. I guess it had been sitting on the shelf for too long. Do you guys think buy this was a good deal?

I'd have bought it just for the action, and sold or tossed the stock and barrel. A new Remington Long Action with standard or magnum bolt costs $479.00 retail, plus shipping. Of course that would require I wanted to build another rifle, which I don't.

Everything works fine, the rusting scared me a little but I think its a great deal since they go for much more than what i got it for. Im definitely thinking of changing the stock though.

Yep, the stock is the first thing that needs to go. The trigger is the next. But, that's a good deal and you have some money for the upgrades.
