Rear flush cups - Strong side or weak side?

If you were to install rear flush cups on a traditionally stocked gun or a shotgun, would you go strong side or weak side?

I have a some flush cups I want to install on a wood stocked shotgun and a wood stocked Ares SCR. I can see how strong side would be good if you are running around with your gun hanging from the front a la AR style but to be honest, I don't see myself running around with either that way.

    Any thoughts are appreciated.

The only problems I have with bottom are:

      1. The stocks for both are traditional rifle/shotgun stocks with a thin bottom edge. I am afraid that I would have to either not mount the flush cups truly flush which would look weird and would be potentially weak near the top of the cup due to the lack of material OR mount it deeper but have to notch some of the material around the flush cup so I could actually attach the QD. This might look weird too.

      2. This is more a concern with the rifle but I don't want a magazine digging into my back while the rifle is slung.

If you don't think that either of these are issues, I will also consider bottom mounting as well.

Weak side. You also don't want the bolt knob digging into your back. Plus with the right sling you can carry it in front of you and then shoulder the rifle with out having to take it off.

Yup. Weak side. NorCal has it right.

            Put them on both sides.
Then you can swap around as needed.
For shooting, the weak side gets the sling out of the way, but some carry methods are better from the strong side.

Rear flush cups - Strong side or weak side?

Edited to add: what Randell said!

I think you'll find out there is a lot of options in carry.

Maybe your hunting pig in a tight bushy area. For that, you might want to patrol carry.

You may be traveling for long periods and carry over your back on your strong side is your choice..

Then again, between the two, you might carry barrel down on you weak side shoulder so that without taking your eyes of a target you can spin the rifle around with your support hand and shoulder quickly as the sling self tensions if set up correctly.

Flush cups on both sides will give you a lot of options
