    Skinner or XS sights?

What do you guys like on your lever gun? I'm looking at doing a rear peep on a 1960s Marlin 336 I own.

I have only one lever gun and I have a Skinner on the rear. It is a really nice unit. Have nothing to compare it to, but it I am happy with it and would buy another one if the need ever arises.

It was the stainless peep for the Rossi 92. It is the barrel mount version with a special dovetail for the Rossi's.

I will add that with my eye sight and progressive lenses, I don't mind not having the rear sight on the receiver.

Consider a Marble or Lyman tang sight? It would be 1890's period correct. And, it would give you a longer sight radius, which is a plus for accuracy...

Skinner sights look great on a lever action, and I have one on my Henry H001T.

My question is, How do you shoot with Skinner sights using ear muffs w/o the ear muff ear pieces separating from your ear? Or do you just use ear plugs?

I use plugs for all rifle shooting.

Thanks for the response, I'll try some plugs next time.
OP, I've seen the Skinner Express and the shorter one on 336s and both looked good. I liked the look of the longer base myself.
One guy had the one with the brass insert to match the gold trigger, and that looked really sharp. He said that he just kept an eye out for corrosion/greening, since he lives in a humid area, and didn't have any issues.
