    Henry Long ranger...

Might have to pick one up.

    Already have a .30-30, so .243 or .308? Hmmm

And iron sights or no sights?

    Thinking i might want irons...

    (Sorry for the confusion)

Well, for long range I like a scope. I have a .308 bolt action but recently picked up a bolt action .223 as well. The .223 is cheaper to feed. Ammo for both is easy to find.

I think the OP might be referring to the Henry Long Ranger Rifle.

I too have been salivating over one.

EDIT: I should say I'm not affiliated with "Maine gun dealer". I just ripped the image from google.

Nice write up and test in the new American Rifleman magazine. It's the lever gun redesigned with a AR type twist bolt.

Anyone see one in California? It's pretty accurate and only $1014. Imagine what Lucas McCain could do with it?

We talking for deer/pigs or zombies?
The .243 is a nice deer cartridge, and I’d always opt for iron sights if available - just doesn’t look right without them!

One of these has been on my radar for a while. I handled one at AAA’s in Vallejo and the bolt was super smooth. I would definitely go with the iron sights version.

If I hadn't been running errands today, I would have picked up my Long Ranger with sights in .223Rem/5.56 NATO.

How is it? Will it chamber 5.56? I always wanted a Henry lever gun but the accuracy always put me off. This one seems to be the winner.

The AR write up has me salivating badly. They gave it a great review. This is a Mini 14 killer for a grand. I wonder if Gunthers or Turner's has any in stock?

I would go with the scope mount version as my tired 65 year old eyes now require that. A nice Vortex 3x9 would be great on that rifle. The only question is to get another expensive caliber (.243) or stick with my large stash of .223. Boy, do I wish it was made in 6.5 Grendel as I have a bunch of Hornady ELD match here.

The Long Ranger comes in the following calibers:
                            .223 Rem/5.56 NATO
                            .243 Win
                            .308 Win/7.62x51 NATO

I’d like one in 7mm-08 with iron sights and a 22” barrel.
