Sporterized 1903 with mystery side mount

Hoping someone can lead me in the right direction as to what possible kind of mount this is, no info printed on it at all. I would love to mount a scope on it but want to avoid drilling and tapping it anymore that what's already done to it

I don't know what it's called or who made them but it's a clusterfOOk operation I had an early southgate Weatherby that someone put one on and it never held strong. I drilled and tapped for a proper mount. Filled the side mount holes with filler screws.

Looks like a Griffin and Howe mount.

I was going to say a non quick release Jaeger mount but the OP said it doesn't have any writing on it.

Looks like one of the side mounts that I have in the "mount" box. Post or send me close up photos & I may be able to match it.

Gentlemen, I have a Springfield 1903 rifle in a sporter stock. Once upon a time it plainly had a side mount, which was mounted on three holes drilled ...

Looks like according to this thread and a quick google search it could be a Griffin and Howe mount.

Also found Paul Jaeger mounts, but in hindsight they don't look close to that one. Also didn't see that both were already mentioned. Might be worth it to buy a new side mount if you dont want to drill into the top, or buy a no drill mount.

I have a few G & H side mounts and Paul Jaegers, this base doesn't look like either. My "sorta guess" would be for the old Echo brand QD type. Uppers for the base aren't very difficult to find and are not gun specific. Just be certain you get the correct tube diameter as they were popular when 7/8" tubes were common.

Thanks for the help guys it looks like it is definitely an echo base, now I'm just on the hunt for some 1" rings. If anyone has any leads lemme know.

Whatever you do, I would recommend NOT drilling & tapping for scope bases. That rifle was nicely sporterized back in the day and it deserves to stay that way.
