URSA 2054 - 2586 Yard Match Results For May 21st

First off the shooters and myself would like to Thank URSA Facilitator and fellow shooter Oscar for the T-shirts that arrived safely.

Pictured is WhiteMamba wearing his latest in unlimited range fashion on the firing line. Sorry about the poor picture quality.

Next we had our newest shooter and CalGun member SKR show up with his 338 Lapua and proceed to hit the gong. Next time bring more ammo so you can shoot both matches!!!
He was never more than 2-3 feet off when he missed so we are in trouble if he brings more ammo to the next match. His rifle is pictured above.
This was the first match where everyone that qualified at 2054 yards all got hits at 2586 yards.
Some of these shooters have some $$$ Spotting scopes and coupled with the 90 degree weather they could read the dust and dial you right into a hit.

Yours truly finally found an acorn and won the first match after a sudden death shootoff with WhiteMamba.
In the second match CalGuns regular Hoffer went to 2586 yards and bested the field for an outright win. Congrats to Hoffer!!!

Next up we had an unfinished match in May of 2017 when we ran out of time. We finished that match at 2586 yards and CalGuns regular Focus took the Sudden Death win over WhiteMamba who was in the hunt all day.

A big Thank You goes out to Billy Goat Machine for the 338 Lapua Improved.
I was shooting 300 grain Berger OTM bullets at 3.87 overall length under 92 grains of H1000 in Lapua brass lit off by Fed215M primers. That combo got 5 hits out of 8 shots at 2054 yards while fireforming.
I believe WhiteMamba was fireforming his new Billy Goat Machine 338 Lapua Improved and shooting the same exact load.
Skkeeter if your out there write down that load it's a great fireforming load for your reamer. When everyone has there dies I suspect more and more hits once everyone has final load work ups.

A special note for Diver we had several shooters using various apps get first round hits at 2054 yards. None were cold bore shots but enough time had passed that no heat was left in the barrel from previous shots. This was something new for us and I like to keep this as honest as possible.

Another update would be on the equipment. I forgot to get permission from the shooter to post pictures but one of our prone shooters added some new gear to his bipod and that gun was working very well.
If I go prone it's a given I would mimic his idea.

Nice write up and it looks like the entire crew is getting settled in.

BTW WhiteMamba looks great straight behind that gun while sporting your new swag.

No worries and I like the way you think.

My Pacific Tool & Gauge B-66 Destroyer action made it here finally and after the 10 day wait I have to decide what to turn it into.
I am thinking something larger than 375 Cheytac or 375 SnipeTac?

Yeah unfortunately we shoot due east and the morning sun puts a huge glare on our scopes.
If I wasn't lazy I would put up a pop up like a couple other shooters do or hang my tarp.

Looks like almost 60 hits on the target

Pretty good for 5 shooters. Even with the variable wind it was turning the light on pretty consistent

Lynn was on a roll! Usually his mouth does the talking ... now his rifle does too. ;')

Great news Lynn, glad it's shooting and you took a win with it! I'll note the loads for when I finally get some time to shoot again. This building rifles deal sure cuts into time spent actually shooting rifles. Orders have been coming in pretty steady lately and it seems W-Mamba is up here every other week and we put in 12 hour days here at the shop.

Congrats to all and good luck to Hoffer at the Tonopah!

                              Lynn:

The black rifle with white front and rear "shoes" is your 338 LM Imp?

Seems you have your MOAB dialed in just fine.
