McMillan A4 Question

Managed to pick up a M40A3 spec McMillan stock. On the site, it lists that it is inletted for a #7 Schneider Contour barrel.

My question is whether or not I can drop in a barreled action that has a different profile barrel? What will work and what won't? Could a stock Remington 700 5R be used?

Talk to McMillan.
They are very knowledgeable of barrel profiles and such
I am looking at their stocks also.
