    Henry Lever Rifle 44mag -Help with Zero

    So I finally got a Henry in 44mag, 20inch barrel.
    I installed a set of skinner sights with an extra long front blade.
    I sighted the rifle at 25yds today. After a lot of filling the front sight, I am shooting about 2 inches low now, with the rear sight all the way down.
    What's the best zero distance for the gun, mostly for plinking from 25 to max of 100yds? Any ballistics table out there? Thx

    A web search will yield plenty of ballistic tables for the various rounds from various manufacturers. In your case just look up:
    .44 Magnum ballistic tables, or;
    .44 Magnum ballistic charts, etc.
    You need to raise the rear sight, that you stated is all the way down, if you are shooting low. That will raise the front of the barrel.

      You may be too close to the target. If set up per typical practice, your sights look straight at the target, the barrel is angled slightly upward to compensate for bullet drop. At 25 yards, you haven't given the bullet time to rise. Nevertheless, 2" low seems like a bit much. Try 50 yards and see what happens. Cheap way to check.

        At what range do you plan on doing most of your shooting? Zero it for that range.

          Raise the rear site and personally I like 50 yard zero.

          Nice rifle you have.....enjoy
