Help with Gew 1888 Commission Rifle bolt

So I thought it would be a good idea to take down the gew 88 bolt, clean and oil her. Little did I realize that on reassembly, the main spring is not depressed, and I am having an issue screwing the whole thing back together. Is there any one local to LA that knows these bolts that would be willing to help me out with this? I'll return the favor with cash/food/cigs/beer; whatever your poison may be.

There are some excellent YouTube vids on the subject. Short story is that putting your bolt back together should be of little difficulty.

You would think that, but it isn't the case sadly. I found a great video showing disassembly and assembly, but it's the act of screwing the the cap back on that's giving me an issue.

This is the exact video I was watching; very informative and helped me a lot with the assembly (I even sent him a message on FB telling him so). But after watching the video again, I realized what my issue was. I was letting the bottom piece of the bolt turn as I was twisting the cap.

Yessir, the key was to make sure you have a hard enough surface that doesn't allow the bottom portion to move out of place while you twist the cap on. It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be.....so I feel kinda dumb, but I am glad that my baby is in working order again.

If you are ever in San Diego I'll show you anything you want to know about a Gew 88 and some things you don't. If you have an outdoor spot I'll come up and we can shoot some Commission Rifles!
