    Anyone have an Izhmash LOS-7?

Curious if anyone on Calguns owns or has shot an Izhmash LOS-7?

If anyone has, please share thoughts/ opinions. I have one coming in the mail, bought it mainly out of curiosity...

I've had Baikal's that shot surprisingly good, so I am guessing one of these might shoot well.

I had one in .308. Really great gun despite the typical lack of refinement of Russian manufactured guns. Some really nice standard features like the adjustable trigger and chrome lined barrel. The only reason I sold mine was the bolt handle took more effort than I liked to lift it when cycling the action. And maybe also because it takes proprietary scope rings. But it was a sub-MOA gun with handloads.

      Hey Berg,

Thanks for the reply, I was starting to think there may not be anyone who has had one.

Do you remember what weight bullets shot best in yours?

I am hoping I can use Tikka rings with a compact 4x scope on mine...If not I might have to order one of Est-Tula mounts. (I had purchased one of those EST mounts for my Baikal Sever, but they place the optic high).

Guess I'll find out when it arrives.

        Here's a review I wrote at least 10 years ago, maybe 15 http://www.dragunov.net/reviews.html

In that I was shooting Nosler 168 match but it shot well with Sierra 168 too. I was still overcoming a flinch I developed when shooting the rifle so there were some fliers in the groups at the time.

There is a lot of info on these rifles on the guns.ru forum but it's all in Russian unfortunately. They discuss lots of tips on accurizing and smoothing up the bolt travel.

"LOS" is translated as either "Moose" or "Elk".

You can buy these in Russia right now for $720

Here's a translated accuracy test from Russia
LOS 7-1. It should be noted that Google translates the Russian word for barrel as "trunk".
