It's a Shooter!

All my life I have purchased good but relatively inexpensive firearms, and relatively cheap glass ($300 and under). I turned 70 last year and I decided it was time. I could not afford a custom gun but I took some of my life savings and bought a Cooper bolt action in .220 Swift (left-handed). The stock is beautifully grained walnut and the action is as smooth as butter. Trigger is really good. I mounted a Nightforce Benchrest scope on it.

Took it to the range for the first time yesterday. I could not believe how clear the scope was. Luckily, I was on paper for the first shot at 50 yards. I fiddled with the windage and elevation a bit and when I was near the bullseye, I shot a three shot group. This is it:

Nice shooting but where is the picture of the rifle? I'm not even a wood stock guy but after you mentioned the stock I want to see this.

Any reason why you went .220 Swift instead of a more conventional popular cartridge?

It is and that's a good point that I should have chosen my wording better. More popular cartridge is really what I'm after. Edited the post.

It is based on the Lee-Navy 6mm round. Used to have a reputation for burning out barrels but that was before current metallurgical techniques.
