    Ordering Manners Stock -- Advice?

I sent away to Manners and they were so kind as to send me samples. I tried out a couple of stocks and have decided on the T2-A.

Now that I'm ready to order it I was hoping to get valuable input from you all regarding what options I should order my stock with.

Planning to stick with the 1" Pachmayr pad instead of upgrading, since this is a .308, not some super mag. Limbsaver is $79 more?

I am currently looking to have it inletted for Badger M5 DBM. Should I have manners pre-install 9/16" pillars?

I was looking to add flush cups in the left side for a sling (I am right-handed). Good enough?

Also one sling stud up front for my Harris bi-pod....

Opinions on GAP Camo or other finish options?

    Thanks all.

I think the Limbsaver is worth the extra cost compared to a Pachmayer pad.

Have them put the pillars in so that when they inlet, you are ready to drop the bottom metal in.
If they don't put the pillars in, they give you two pillars that are extra long that you would have to trim yourself.
Most people don't use the pillars that they give you as the DBM should come with pillars that are already the correct length.

Put flush cups on both sides, front and back.
It gives you more options when you change your mind on how you like the sling to lay across the back of your hand or how the gun hangs on your shoulder when you find yourself hiking 4 miles someday.
Put a sling swivel stud 3" from the end for a bipod.

Go whole hog! Non rotating cups on both sides front and back, and a badger rail and a sling stud. I prefer to hook the front sling on the right and back sling on the left when shooting sling prone. But carry with both on the left.

I would talk to your rifle smith BEFORE ordering. Your smith will specify what you need to do RE: inletting, pillars, etc. I know my smith wanted a specific type of barrel channel and shank/cylinder length and wanted me to NOT have pillars installed by the stock company, so he could do that himself and make sure everything fit as it should. As far as what options and accessories to get, that's up to you.

If you get the mini-chassis version it comes with badger bottom metal ready to go.
So um... moon labia or something.

              Advice? Patience, haha!!

Hopefully they're getting caught up and you won't have to wait too long, though.
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
              Come on...what harm??

The mini chassis have all the same tang support problems of any other V-block mounting chassis.
You are better off with a proper pillars and a full epoxy bedding job.

With the Manners mini chassis, do you think the heavy tang option on a Defiance Deviant action sufficiently mitigates this?

Judging by the wear marks on my mini chassis, this thing should be throwing fliers all over the place. It doesn't.
I bought it with the intentions of swapping actions back and forth. Sounded good at the time but didn't quite happen as much as I anticipated. I wouldn't buy another... T2a adjustable butt, flush caps, mini chassis, etc.... new is 1200 and change.
Same thing w/o mini chassis used you can find 2 of them for 1300ish if you do your own bedding.

I love the T2 for a long range hunter and the T2A for a bench gun.

IMO, the badger DBM is worth it. If you get the DBM, side-mounted flush cups (appropriate to dominant hand) are also worth it because they will keep a slung rifle with a detachable mag from digging into your back.

I can get proper cheek weld and eye relief on the standard T2 while using a standard 50mm objective hunting optic, so opt to cut weight and cost by not having an adjustable stock. On my bench rifles with big glass, I order the T2A because I can't get a good weld without it.

This is my long-range deer and pronghorn rifle with a T2 stock in 6.5CM, matched with a stiller/brux combo. Glass is Leupy VX6 3-18x50 with the wind plex reticle.

                        Nice!

Thank you all for your input. I left a message with the smith today to ask what he prefers in factory options.

I do intend to go the route of pillar/epoxy bedding rather than mini chassis.

                          No.
The issue is that the rear screw is BEHIND the part of the chassis that supports the receiver.
That is necessary due to the nature of the v-block design and the shape of the receiver.

A proper pillar that is epoxied into the stock will encircle the rear action screw so there is NO stress induced on the receiver.
