Problem with AE 223/55gr. in Rem.700 sps

I have a new Rem. 700 Tac. sps in 223. I took it out to the range today and
and had 100 rds. of AE 223-55gr. tried 45rds and it only fired 4 of them
I had 60 of my reloads with Win. primers and it fired all of them no problem.
Has any one else had this problem with AE 223 ammo. It looks like the firing
pin is very lite hit,is the primer that hard in the AE ammo ?

The case on the right is a reload it fired the two cases on the left did not fire
the one on the far left was hit 3 times and still not fire.

Huh..... do the primers looked seated too deep like the pocket is too deep? Try putting the cases in your calipers and see if the measurements are within spec. AE is cheaper ammo but I've never had issues with most commercially manufactured recent ammo.

I can do that, but I did fire this stuff in a Mini 14 with no problem..

Check that the base to shoulder dimension is correct on the AE stuff as well. I'd assume it would be on factory ammo, but you never know.

I've had hard primers in factory brass.

Take the bolt out of the gun and flush it out with lighter fluid.
Put it back in the gun and dry fire it.
It should sound like a very good slap with the louder the better.
Now cut a couple circles out of ordinary paper the same size as the casehead of your brass.
Put one piece in the boltface and chamber a live round.
Keep adding paper circles until the bolt won't close and post how many pieces it took.

Ok I checked base to shoulder and here is what I found, the rounds that didn't fire measurements were 1.427, 1,430, 1.430 1.438
the rounds that fired were 1.448-1.451 i checked about 30 other rounds out
of the lot and all were 1.448, 1.451. I think that could be it I will take about
50 rounds that are 1.448 and up, and see if I can find more in the 1.427-1.438
range and see if they fires.
