Instructors / Classes for Bolt Action Rifles?

Just bought a Remington 700 Magpul Hunter .307 and was looking for more than just YOUTUBE on teaching me how to correctly use my rifle. Any suggestions?

Are you willing to pay for instruction?

How far are you willing to go?

What do you want to learn?

      Yes.

I would like to be decent at 800 yards.

I do not know. This is my first bolt action rifle.

I meant how far are you willing to travel to the class, lol. Also don't get hung up on shooting at a certain distance. In my time learning long distance, the one thing I've learned in distance is only a number. If you can shoot good at 100-200 yards, going out to 800-1000 isn't much different other than the wind. The only thing that teaches you about wind is shooting in it.

The fact your willing to pay is good. I know both So and Nor Cal precision rifle groups put on classes each spring. I've never gone so I don't know how much they want you to know. I do know that they want you to have a 100 zero and good match ammo.

If your green enough not to know how to even operate it, I'd see if a local Cal Gunner is willing to give you some basic instruction to get up a running.

          Angeles or the Desert.

Probably about 1 to 2 hours. I do know how to operate on bur i prefer a tabala rasa approach.

Look up the SoCal Precision Rifle club. See when their next training session is.

it will be hard to find a class that allows you to shoot .307. tends to blow right through backstops, bounce of blades of grass, start fires, if you happen to shoot it at the ground it alters the orbit of the earth, only has a barrel life of 100 rounds. rounds simply drop once it reaches 799 yards, costs $20 a round, rumour has it someone is about to release a handgun in that calibre so will most likely be banned by end of year...

The instructors I know only teach people how to shoot great at only 750 yards.

If you can get a copy of the old Magpul Dynamics Precision rifle viedos, that's a good start.

Where are you located. We have been running some classes for some new guys. I have 2 or so guys that want to get out and trained on their stuff. PM your location and if you are in Orange County or San Diego we can make something work at our private range. 800 yards will be a chip shot.

Please make sure you buy some good glass! It's worth the money

www.ftatv.com does a couple of long range classes annually. They teach a basic and advanced and go past 1k. Limited spots so look into it..
