Ruger precision bolt problems

So I took out my brand new RPR and I had some problems. I loaded the mag it comes with, which is a magpul mag, with prime 6.5 creedmoor 130g... I pushed the bolt forward to load the round. It felt tough but I figured it was new and a little HARD. I sighted in and pulled the trigger... nothing happened.... first I was like what the heck. So I went to pull the bolt to eject the round and the gun fired... ********* was my first thought. So cleaned it and tried again and same thing happened . I was pissed.... i tried 3 different brands of ammo and nothing worked... I talked to some people at the range and called a friend that had the same rifle... I the compared the bolt to his and WOW!!! My brand new bolt is F****d, compared to his. Here are the pics, sorry the black line is the serial numbers on each. The arrow is my messed up bolt, the other is a friends same bolt and same caliber ... What do you guys think? Thanks for the input.

When I pulled open to eject the unfired round. The round fired. And after the casing was HARD to eject. I tried to camber another round and eject without firing and it was REALLY HARD to eject.

Have you tried to disassemble the bolt using the tool and inspect the firing pin?

Are you sure it was assembled properly in the first place?

The plastic tool kind of sucks so take care if you try...

I'm with you on this one. I'm not touching it. Hopefully it didn't mess anything up in the rifle it self.

Call Ruger. Unless you had taken the bolt apart and reassembled it improperly, there's no excuse for this happening. The machining looks completely off compared to the other bolt.

Your first problem was buying a Ruger made within the last 5 years. Their QC has totaly gone out the window. They ship everything and if a customer complains they'll fix it. Gun people no longer build their product it's done by low wage assemblers who grab a part stick it where it goes and shove the gun to the next assembler. The bean counters who are running Ruger now have ruined the place. They do have a good record of fixing their mistakes but problems like yours should have never made it out the door.

Just called Ruger and they are sending me a prepaid box to ship them the whole rifle. They lady was very nice and apologetic. Hopefully this is not a super long process.

Boy, that's the truth my Ruger American Predator had .009" too much headspace .

Bummer. The comparison photos show that the camming surface adjacent to the lug was not machined like the other bolt and the boltface looks like someone took it out of the CNC machine before it was finished.

Built on a Monday or a Friday......... or miss handled by the Gun Store that sold it to you.....Off the Rack Item, everybody and their mother dry fired the thing????....
