    "Howa Long Range Rifle"

Uh-oh. Just when i finally decided what i wanted.

Available in 308 or 6.5 creedmoor. 26 inch heavy barrel with bell and carlson stock and Nikko Stirling Diamond Scope. Msrp $1299. Without scope MSRP IS $1,000.

This could be a contender depending on the real world prices. I don't see it anywhere for sale yet. Interesting though!

$1000 for that without the scope is way overpriced.
Needs to be under $700 street price.

To many people not familiar with the NRA standard distance nomenclature, "long range" means beyond 100yds.

I've never seen that stock before.
It appears to be an m40, but with a vented fore. I wonder if it was made just for Howa?

Nice rifle. I would go with .308 because, ammo can be had anywhere in the world. The 6.5 is impressive on paper and on the range. But, you can't find ammo anywhere you look. If you do go 6.5, buy lots of cases and bullets. B.

I'll rephrase it then. Nikko-Stirling and decent quality don't go together in my book.

How's the quality of the Howa barreled actions of late ? I know they were good back in the day.

The one I bought last year is really nice. I love the trigger too.

The hogue stock that they give you for free is weird. It has a composite "chassis" that is really stiff but it has the rubber material that on the edges is really flexy. I am probably going to try and dremel tool it while I save my duckies for a B&C or a nice walnut stock.

I have the hunting model not the target model so i may have different goals/expectations than you.

It's a pretty rifle. The quality is definitely NOT there. Look aat a Tikka T3. You will not be disappointed!!

I have had several HOWA rifles and they have all been high quality per dollar spent. In fact I was sorely disappointed when comparing my $650 700 SPS varmint vs my Howa .308 that I paid right around $400 for. The Remington did not group as well and the action felt like it had sand in it compared to the super slick HOWA.
The Tikka is a nice gun too but I do not think it is any better than a HOWA. And now most Howas have a sub-MOA guarantee, which is pretty impressive that they are willing to stand behind thier product that way.
