First off the stock is great
These are CNC'd but I don't see any machine marks what so ever
I would highly recommend his stocks
Ok so whats next
Well first off this is a M40rgery so its not going to be an exact replica more like a homage
Im getting the Leopold/Redfield M40 Comemorative 3x9 scope ...I know its not a exact replica but it will look the part and in all honestly id rather have the mildots then the original reticle
ill get the Badger rings and hopefully they wont have the fittings for the clip slot because id rather not have to have that machined into my receiver
Ill get the Remington 700 SPS Varmint and shorten the barrel, re-crown, and parkerized....also it will get bedding and pillared
Ill need to get sling swivels but Kyle said he may have some so ill look into those
This will go nicely with my M49 spotter

Im sure ill need the barrel shortened to 24 inches, recrowned, and the stock pillared not to mention the barrel and action parkerized.

I came across a funnkie painted hard rifle case....been told it was for early 70s USMC sniper rifle...what ever that means. There was no MOS for snipers in the 70s. Maybe it is a rifle hard case for a rifle team member.

Well down to the 2nd to last piece of the M40 the rifle itself
I initially was going to do the budget route with a 700 sps Varmint get the barrel shorted, crowned, and parkerized
that would have cost in the ballpark of 200 to 250 and the lowest I saw a 700spsv for was 575.00 so add 200ish to that and we are getting into 700P price range
well the best solution for me was just get a 5R and sell the HS Precision stock to make up some of the money and I have a well known accurate barreled action that is 24inches long as was the original M40
I went ahead and got a 5R
budget be damned
buy once cry once I guess

Yours will be every bit as good or even better cause you built it. I was tempted to buy a M24 when Remington was selling those, because I was in the US Army, but I do love the M40, the smooth wood military stock is really nice. Recoil feels light for a .308 also, it must be because of the weight.
