    Scope Advice for Rem 700VLS

So I have posted a few times and have figured out the gun I want...now for the scope. I plan on buying a Remington 700 VLS 26" heavy barrel...will likely get used under 10 times a year for bench shooting.

Reading alot of threads here...I am still a novice as to how to figure out a good scope.

I have found that alot of you folks like the Vortex scopes for value/ function...so I am leaning that way...but what one?

I will be using the set up for paper and cans...from 100 to 300... and the occasional BLM visit that could go to 500...probably try to lob a few to a 1000...

Mostly just for fun..nothing competative...but want to learn and have the boys learn to use a good scope.

I am fine with up to $1000...my limited understanding has me leaning to MOA...but there are so many subtle versions I am getting a bit overwhelmed with options...I do not want to get into having to get into the whole calculator, temp figure everything out type of deal...I want something that is easier to use and gets me close...not looking for spending alot of time worrying about alot of accuracy...

You guys are the best source for me so far...so fire away...and thank you in advance for your time to respond...
Wilson Protector .45, Springer 9mm Loaded, Franchi Instinct SL .12ga. and some other cool stuff for the kiddos...

This will work, get a 20 MOA one piece base and you will be good:

Vortex, burris, leupold (if you can find it at a decent price) and nikon would all be my picks to look at in a 4x16 or 5x20 power. I personally don't power my scopes above 12 but that is just me but I don't tend to shoot much paper.

Vortex, bushnell, Weaver tactical and SWFA make great high value optics. Leupold is better but will cost you more. Ive had experience with all of these makes. Stating out, go with a variable power up at 16x. You can move up to higher power and higher end optics down the road.

Also, reticle and adjustment clicks is very important. If you go with an MOa reticle, make sure you have MOa turrets to match. It makes it way easier to make adjustments. Same with MIL/MIL. If you mix them up(mil/moa) you will need to do some math to determine your adjustments.

Fyi, I have a leupold im selling that is under your budget. If youre interested or have any questions, feel free to Pm me. Best of luck!
