    Steyr SSG 69 experts.

If factory rings are not present , what options do we have to mount a scope on an SSG 69 P1 ( early model with sights and green stock) .

    Thank You

    PS. $$$ is not a consideration .

US optics used to make a rail that mounted to that receiver. try calling them they may have some in stock even though they are no longer in production

Talley makes rings as well. The Talley rings are split vertically. I would go with a picatinny rail. Not sure if you have to drill and tap though. Steyr rings are always popping up on eBay PIIK owner myself.

When I had mine I used both the Steyr and Talley rings, both work very well and would return to zero within about 3/4 minute. With the Steyr rings I even swapped scopes between my rifle and a few friends rifles and they would be on paper within a few inches at 100 yards, no bore sighting needed. The USO picatinny mount requires drilling and tapping which might reduce the value since buyers usually view these rifles as collector items which is also a selling point for the Steyr rings and European glass.

Always wondered why Steyr stopped producing the SSG 69 PI. If they started again I would buy one right quick because they were nice rifles.

I got my picatinny rail from Styer about a month ago and they said there were a couple left. If not , I was going to try here

                OR here

Good luck. Also you'll need a strap on cheek rest.

I would recommend the PII over the PI

The Us optics rail does Not require drill & tapping... I have one.
It mounts to the dovetails on the receiver tightly & then has some set
                    screws to tighten.
