A long time ago in another lifetime I jeweled the bolt on my FN Mauser myself.. If I remember I used Gleam Toothpaste for the abrasive and the eraser part of a pencil chucked up in a drill press. The bolt in an X-Vice. Came out pretty nice... Since then I've picked up quite a few Mauser actioned rifles, and someday maybe I'll mess around with it again. I'd be interested to find out what a competent gunsmith would charge to jewel a bolt today??WITHOUT THE 2nd THERE WON'T BE A 1st...]Comment

Usually if your are buying a bolt from one of the machine shops, it's usually about $40 more, so I'd figure it to cost a bit more to get it later. Personally, I'd advise against it because jewelling adds no performance addition, and I've always liked a plain bolt over its jewelled counterpart.Comment
