    Rossi/Winchester 92

    Should I or Shouldn't I ?
    So here is the deal:
I just bought a Rossi 92 20" .357, it is actually still in the 10 day wait
My wife is of the opinion I should sell it and get a real Winchester 92.
Can't have both, would need to sell the Rossi to afford the Winny.
Just handling the Rossi it is pretty nice, good wood to metal fit, action is smoother than the new Marlin 94's I have handled. The finish on the wood is not that great, could use a few coats of Tung oil.
Sell for the Winny or keep it, What say you ?

Doesn't the Winchester have problems loading .38s? That is a deal-breaker for me. Keep the Rossi.

Actually all .357 92's have that issue to some degree, but can be over come with OCL adjustment.

Keep the Rossi. If youre handy with tools, check out the tune up video from Steve Gunz (sp?). He shows you how to tune up the rifle and general maintence

Actually no, some also have problems feeding the longer .357 cartridges. I have 3 Rossi 92's, I only had problems with the 1st one I bought. It didn't like the longer .357 cartridges, it liked the 38sps just fine.

It seems to me that you answered your question before you asked it.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Bullet shape has a lot to do with it. I load for a Puma branded M92 in .357 and it will only reliably feed round nose flat point bullets. Everything else jams up. It will run either 38 or 357 so long as it's RNFP.

Not really, I always start buying accessories for guns I don't have yet

Would that Winchester 92 be one produced by Miroku of Japan?.....If so, listen to the lady.

Keep the Rossi, give it a simple fluff n buff, spend remainder of budget on ammunition and accessories.

FWIW, I purchased a LN 94AE 30-30 from Gun Broker last month (450 OTD) Made in New Haven in 02-03. The machining is way better then the Rossi, I mean WAY better. The wood is good walnut not brazilin mystery wood.
Its my first Winchester, hopefully not my last. I just bought the 94 for my son to hunt deer with.

I like my Rossi's (not so much the 44 carbine) .357 is fun as hec, I think the 20" barrel is perfect.

                      Enjoy your new Rossi OP

If you're intent on spending the money, keep the Rossi and take your wife out to a really nice restaurant... five times.

The Rossi is a nice-enough gun and one that you'll never have to worry about dinging.

+3 for Japanese Lever guns... Just 5 years ago the consensus may have been 50-50 on those and 10+ years ago it liking a Japanese lever aloud would be blasphemy...

The Rossi 92 is a great rifle for the money very fun. QC is spotty but if you get a good one - gold.

Most fire arms makers now have spotty QC it seems, ya pays yer money- and takes yer chances.
